ABOUT MAURICE "Skip" KIMBALL
Maurice "Skip" Kimball is a creative leader across multiple entertainment industries from TV animations, film, theme parks to AAA games. Visual development and design is the foundation of any great venture in entertainment storytelling.
Currently a Sr. Art Director at ICON Creative Studio, Maurice is working on Disney & Netflix animated TV series. Past shows and current, Star Wars Young Jedi Adventures, Alice in Wonderland Bakery, Monsters at Work Seasons 1 & 2, Action Pack and The Rocketeer.
Creator of GOTHIES a new brand property for multiple media venues.
During his career journey, Maurice was the Creative Director at Atomhawk Design, Vancouver Studio. Prior to co-founding the Vancouver Studio, he was an Art Director at Atomic Cartoons developing Super Dinosaur and on an unannounced film property. Before joining Atomic Maurice was an Art Director at DHX Media in Vancouver Canada working on Nickelodeon's animated series: BLAZE and the MONSTER MACHINES.
Maurice began his career in 1993 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Animation from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From there he embarked on a series of projects that carried him from Los Angeles, California to Vancouver, Canada.
For two decades, his imaginative and thought-provoking art has been shaping the visual development from mature AAA games to children's properties in both the entertainment and educational industries of North America.
Maurice has worked as an Animator, Illustrator, Conceptual Design Artist, and Art Director on a myriad of projects for such studios as DHX Media, Disney, Warner Brothers, Universal Creative, Nickelodeon, Microsoft Studios, LeapFrog, Brain Quest, Knowledge Adventure, and such Mattel properties as Fisher-Price and Barbie.
Heavily influenced by animated and literary classics, he believes in the imaginative power of storytelling as a means of unlocking new ideas and encouraging children to celebrate their originality. Whether through children's interactive gaming, toys, animated series, educational programming, or unforgettable theme parks, Maurice has been a positive influence for years in creating endearing memories for the lives of children and their families. The guiding force in all that he has produced stems from his adventures as a child as well as the magical and challenging experiences of fatherhood. It is his passion to envision the impossible and his hope to inspire children with what is probable.
